- Tell us a little about your spiritual journey
- I was raised Catholic, attended prayer meetings as a teen, always felt spiritually connected to a higher power, but by college I no longer believed in sin, guilt, or a punitive, judgmental God. I drifted away from Catholicism as if it were a beloved old shoe that no longer fit.
Many years later I earned a Masters Degree in Spiritual Psychology at The University of Santa Monica. Here's a link to a video clip ("Bella on USM"), in which I talk about that transformational education: http://www.bellamahayacarter.com/media.cfm
I was relieved and amazed when I stumbled upon the North Hollywood Church of Religious Science. "At last I found a church where the reverend talks about things I believe in," I told my husband. I couldn't believe my good fortune at having found a religion whose tenets so closely resonated with my own. I was, and remain, grateful!
